Finding My Voice

To empower and engage with school-aged children, teachers, guidance counsellors, parents and community members through community based human rights education focusing on the prevention of child sexual abuse and training in human rights awareness.

Human Rights

Increase awareness of human rights, while enabling access to improved treatment and quality of life

Reduce incidences of child sexual abuse in Jamaica

Engage with students, parents, teachers, and guidance counsellors using interactive and innovative methodologies to empower them with knowledge

Creation of finding my voice toolkit

Creation of Finding My Voice toolkit for the prevention of sexual abuse against children containing music with lessons plans for each song

Main Components of Project

Amongst other things the Finding My Voice project includes

Classroom interventions

Facilitators teach students using 21st Century Techniques.

General assembly sensitization

Weekly presentations in General Assembly in 20 high schools 

Parenting workshops

Monthly parenting workshops in 20 communities.

Guidance counselor and teacher training

Annual Summer Camp Training Guidance Counselors.

Trainer of trainers

Training Trainers in 21st Century Education Techniques.

Grant Funding

Grant funding for CSOs working with marginalized women.

Counselling

Counselling for children on sexual abuse.

Who We Are. What We Do

This project has extended its reach to include schools for children living with disabilities, with funding from the Digicel Foundation, to provide sexual abuse prevention training intervention
