RISE Life Management Services is a non-governmental organization that was established in October 1989 as The Addiction Alert Organization. Services offered included the treatment and prevention of addictive disorders specifically substance abuse, drug testing, an island-wide telephone Counseling service and Workplace Employee Assistance programmes.
In 2005, the scope and focus of the organization was reviewed and a decision taken to adjust its direction by expanding services and programmes to address the needs of vulnerable populations in Jamaica, particularly young people living in inner city communities. In order to reflect these adjustments, the organization changed its name to RISE Life Management Services; with RISE being an acronym for Reaching Individuals through Skills and Education. The programmes and services currently offered include all those previously carried out by Addiction Alert, as well as community and school-based violence, substance abuse and gambling prevention programmes for at-risk youth; health, educational and vocational training programmes for adolescents, youth leaders, adults and community workers. RISE Life also offers project management consultancy for other agencies.
