Educational Services
Adult Continuing Education Programmes
RISE Life's Adult Continuing Education programmes are offered to adults in inner-city communities, and is aimed at primarily those who did not complete secondary education or those who were not successful in the core subjects of CSEC Mathematics and English Language. These programmes prepare participants to successfully sit local and overseas examinations such as the CXC, City & Guilds, JSC, as well as the Heart Entrance Examination.
Classes are delivered by highly trained and competent instructors who have years of experience working with adults. All these services are offered at no cost to the participants as they are fully funded. RISE Life Management Services hopes, that through these interventions, participants can become employable and contribute to their communities and society in a meaningful way.
Literacy & Numeracy Skills Training using Information & Communications Technology (ICT)
RISE Life through its newly renovated computer lab which currently boasts 20 computers and unlimited internet connectivity, offers literacy and numeracy skills training to at-risk young people, in particular males, in inner-city communities.
Utilising locally produced software, HEADSPACE, RISE Life has sought to transform the lives of at risk youth who are in need of remedial education by providing this facility which utilizes the internet to deliver instructions to participants. Because many of the participants do not, themselves, possess computers or have limited access, being placed in front of a computer to learn becomes an added incentive for them to attend and to benefit from the programmes.
The programme is geared towards preparing at-risk youth to pass HEART ninth grade entry level examinations so that they can enroll into vocational skills training programmes which are offered by us or through our many partner agencies locally.
GO-GSAT Exam Preparation
RISE Life Management Services offers and operates after-school GSAT preparation programmes for adolescents from inner-city communities. The programmes are internet based and utilizes the award-winning GOGSAT programme to prepare adolescents to pass the GSAT examinations and get placed into a secondary school of their choice.
We currently administer the programme in 4 inner-city communities through funding from the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ). These programmes are self driven and individually oriented. However, we are constantly in need of
volunteers to assist participants with questions they may have.
